We are seeking a detail-oriented, technically skilled, and hands-on Production Artist / Digital Print Production Specialist to join our team. This role combines graphic production, digital printing, file preparation, workflow management, and equipment support. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality products while helping maintain efficient operations.

Position Summary

The Production Artist / Digital Print Production Specialist plays a critical role in preparing and managing graphic assets throughout our production workflow. This position is responsible for creating and proofing a variety of printed and digital products, operating digital print equipment, managing Fiery RIP workflows, performing color management, and assisting with production equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and capable of balancing creative production work with hands-on operational responsibilities. This role works closely with company leadership to support production goals, improve workflows, and ensure consistent quality across all products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain graphic assets for use in production workflows.
  • Create and format functional products such as student ID cards, proof sheets, certificates, marketing materials, signage, and other school-related products.
  • Review and proof materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and brand compliance.
  • Prepare print-ready files and verify all artwork meets production specifications.
  • Perform image adjustments, color corrections, layout modifications, and file preparation for print and digital output.
  • Manage digital print workflows using Fiery RIP software and related production tools.
  • Operate and monitor digital press equipment to ensure efficient and accurate output.
  • Troubleshoot print quality, color consistency, and file-related production issues.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, calibration, cleaning, and basic repair of digital printing and finishing equipment.
  • Work closely with leadership to understand company objectives and support production initiatives.
  • Maintain organized file structures, production documentation, and workflow standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, quality, and turnaround times.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Printing Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in production art, print production, digital printing, prepress, or a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Experience with digital press environments and Fiery RIP workflow software strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of color management, print production processes, and file preparation standards.
  • Experience operating digital presses, large-format printers, or production printing equipment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Xerox, Canon, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, Noritsu, EFI Fiery, or similar digital production printing equipment is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable performing routine preventive maintenance, equipment cleaning, calibration, replacing consumable components, clearing jams, and coordinating service with equipment vendors when necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with variable data printing, school photography products, or high-volume production workflows is a plus.
